THE MINI IVF AND WHY IT MAY BE YOUR BEST OPTION

baby-handle-tiny-father-family-tenderness-toddlerAdvances in technology and understanding of how fertility works have created new in vitro fertilization protocols. At one time, large doses of fertility medication were needed in order for Conventional IVF to be performed. Minimal Stimulation IVF (Mini IVF) has changed this and now allows for a more holistic and natural approach to fertility medicine. Instead of using large dosages of fertility medication to stimulate egg production, the Mini IVF protocol uses low doses of medication to supplement a woman’s natural fertility. Because of high quality egg production, this new approach increase success rates as well as results in a more comfortable and safe experience. making-babies

WHAT IS A MINI IVF?

Mini IVF is New Hope Fertility Center’s patented minimal stimulation IVF protocol. During Mini IVF, each woman’s cycle is monitored closely with ultrasound and blood work. Small amounts of fertility drugs are prescribed to gently stimulate a woman’s ovaries to produce multiple eggs. Rather than aiming for a large number of eggs, the goal of Mini IVF is to produce between three and five high quality eggs that are well suited for fertilization in vitro. This is done by prescribing just the level of support each woman’s body needs.

Medication during a minimal stimulation cycle can include:

  • Clomid taken orally
  • Up to three injections of Menopur
  • Synarel administered by nasal spray

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF A MINI IN VITRO FERTILIZATION PROTOCOL?

There are a number of advantages of choosing a minimal stimulation protocol:

  • Less discomfort due to administering fertility medication
  • Fewer side effects
  • Significantly decreased likelihood of developing complications such as OHSS
  • High quality eggs that are better suited for fertilization and live birth

New Hope specializes in providing customized fertility treatment protocols to give our patients the best chance at the family they’ve been dreaming of. We take time to understand the unique set of circumstances each couple is facing before determining the right IVF treatment protocol.
