August is National Breastfeeding Month

World Breastfeeding Week (August 1 – 7) and National Breastfeeding Month are launched on August 1^st. During this month, the people supporting this movement celebrate the benefits of breastfeeding. Most importantly, women and men give support to those who breastfeed anytime – anywhere.

There is clear evidence that breastfeeding saves lives by protecting babies from life-threatening infections and illnesses. Over 820,000 lives could be saved if all babies were breastfed during the first 6 months after birth.

When women all over the world receive support to breastfeed – children thrive.
