How Dr. Zhang Administers Precision IVF Fertility Medications

Couple in love.To gain the achievement of being a world-renowned fertility specialist – Dr. John Zhang has established an evidence-based record of precision fertility medication protocols. Look: Timing is of the essence when it comes to the administration of fertility medications during your IVF cycle. Bottom Line: Dr. Zhang has the expertise to know when your fertility medication regimens must be adjusted for an optimum IVF cycle outcome.

Should your IVF fertility medication regimen be:

  • Increased – or –
  • Decreased – or –
  • Stopped?

Fertility Medications and the Mini-IVF™

As reported by ABC News, the Mini-IVF™ is a newer and gentler IVF protocol. What’s the real story? As an alternative to Conventional IVF, the Mini-IVF™ has been successfully practiced for over a decade by Dr. John Zhang. As explained in an interview with ABC News, You only need one good-quality egg to achieve a live birth. With Mini-IVF™, you make very few eggs, but good quality eggs to achieve a pregnancy – Dr. John Zhang. The best part: This holistic IVF protocol is gentle on a woman’s body because patients follow a low-dose oral drug regimen during a fresh cycle – instead of the typical rigorous administration of daily hormone shots.

Clomid (Clomiphene Citrate) vs. Femara (Letrozole)

The fertility drug clomiphene citrate – brand named Clomid – is an oral medication used to stimulate a woman’s monthly egg production and increase her chances of pregnancy. Ovulation of multiple eggs is timed with the insemination of a concentrated amount of sperm into the uterus via a woman’s cervix – similar to a Pap smear.

A 2015 study published in the New England Journal of Medicine tested and compared two common fertility drugs stimulating multiple egg production – Clomid v. Femara. Clomid achieved a birth rate of 23 percent, while Femara (generic Letrozole – an aromatase inhibitor) only 18 percent. The study found that Letrozole offered no advantages over Clomid treatment and increased the chance of multiple pregnancy by up to four times. The researchers concluded that Clomid is the most effective medication for stimulating ovaries and increasing the chances of a healthy pregnancy for couples with unexplained infertility.

Precision Administration of Fertility Medications

Your fertility doctor must have the education, training, and clinical experience to precisely determine how a fertility medication protocol must be administered for success. As a patient who is committed to investing your time and resources into getting pregnant, you must become well-informed about fertility medications. It can’t be emphasized enough. Every fertility drug is specifically designed for strategic administration during a woman’s IVF cycle. These medications are a very important component of the IVF cycle process and are determinative of pregnancy success.

Customized Fertility Care

It is important to work with a fertility doctor who has the experience to accurately prescribe and regulate fertility medications – regardless of the recommended treatment.

If you join us – you will be automatically entered in a lottery to win an Ozone Sauna Therapy session.

Women between the ages of 35 and 42 no longer have to be placed on the IVF fast-track. You have more fertility treatment options than ever before if you are a more mature woman. There is a new fertility treatment – Ovarian Rejuvenation Therapy – helping women conceive past their reproductive prime years.

Ovarian Rejuvenation Therapy

Today, older women can elect to receive Ovarian Rejuvenation Therapy as a first-line measure for them to conceive quickly and cost-effectively. All older women – even menopausal women – have egg follicles in their ovaries. These eggs are dormant and don’t grow because their environment for development is not optimal. This occurs when a woman’s rigid ovarian wall pushes on follicles and keeps them dormant. When a woman is unable to ovulated, Ovarian Rejuvenation Therapy can coax her ovaries into producing viable eggs for fertilization. At New Hope Fertility Center, fertility specialist – Dr. Zaher Merhi – has achieved phenomenal pregnancy success using Ovarian Rejuvenation Therapy.

Ovarian Rejuvenation Therapy may be recommended when:

  • A woman’s egg follicles cannot be seen on an ultrasound; or
  • A woman’s body is not responding to fertility medications administered during IVF

At New Hope Fertility Center, Ovarian Rejuvenation Therapy is performed in a non-invasive manner compared to other techniques currently being used by other clinics.

Here, Ovarian Rejuvenation Therapy is similar to an IVF egg retrieval procedure and is performed in office.

  • A woman’s ovaries are punctured multiple times transvaginally
  • Pressure on egg follicles is relieved from the rigid ovarian wall
  • Dormant eggs are revived and freed from follicles

Candidates for Ovarian Rejuvenation Therapy

  • Women in their advanced maternal years – late 30s and over 40
  • Menopausal women
  • Peri-menopausal women
  • Women who have a low egg reserve and low Anti Mullerian (AMH) hormone levels
  • Women suffering from Premature Ovarian Failure (POF)
  • Women suffering from primary ovarian failure
  • Women with unexplained infertility
  • Women having multiple failed IVF treatments due to poor embryo quality

Pregnancy Success for Older Women

We welcome difficult patients – those previously diagnosed by other fertility specialists as hopelessly infertile.

  • No age restriction
  • No FSH level requirement
  • No requirement to produce multiple eggs per cycle

Ovarian Rejuvenation Expertise

It is important to work with a fertility doctor having the research and clinical experience required to design a fertility treatment plan meeting your personal and medical needs. IVF Pregnancy Success Patient Testimonial – Pregnant at 42

IVF Hope Finds A Way!

My IVF journey began when I was 39. I had five IVF failures (5) at three different fertility clinics in NYC before I came to New Hope Fertility Center. At my former clinics I was given high doses of drugs and produced many egg follicles. However, shortly after fertilization most of the embryos would arrest and the ones transferred to my uterus would not implant. I was diagnosed as hopelessly infertile.

At 41 – discouraged and feeling hopeless – I came across New Hope and was intrigued by their mission of treating difficult patients. I met with Dr. Zhang and immediately felt comfortable and hopeful again. Dr. Zhang reviewed my records of previous IVF attempts and designed a different protocol for me. Unlike other clinics, New Hope has a customized regimen for each patient. They do not use a cookie-cutter approach.

Dr. Zhang and my fertility care team found the IVF regimen that worked best for me. I was given less drugs and then my embryos were frozen. At age 42, I had a successful frozen embryo transfer during my natural cycle. My husband and I now have a beautiful baby boy.

Cutting-Edge IVF Protocols

Evidence-Based Improvement in Genetic Screening

Another important improvement to patient service is our cutting-edge technology used for the genetic testing of embryos prior to transfer. Non-Invasive Chromosomal Screening (NICS) detects most chromosomal abnormalities in an embryo.

This innovative genetic testing methodology marks a huge and truly momentous achievement. We are the only fertility clinic on the East Coast to offer NICS in conjunction with IVF. NICS increases IVF and Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) pregnancy success rates by up to 30 percent.

Advantages of NICS Technology

  • No need to remove embryo cells by needle stick
  • Less embryo manipulation
  • Culture media is processed on site (no transportation concerns)
  • NICS causes little to no stress on the embryo as it develops in vitro
  • Improved birth rates of healthy babies
  • Provides opportunity for gender identification and selection
  • Demonstrably safer and more accurate than conventional – trophectoderm – biopsy (cell extraction)
  • Avoids disruptive embryo conventional biopsies which have been recently shown in study published in the August, 2019 journal Fertility and Sterility to increase the risk of pre-eclampsia and placental problems in pregnancy

How to Improve Your Fertility Health in the New Year 2020

group of people eating at table with foodIf you want to get pregnant this New Year, you must give your fertility health a fresh start. You must be proactive in taking better care of yourself. Look: Give more attention to your overall health if you are planning on undergoing fertility treatment in 2020. Why is your health important? A healthy diet will increase your chances of conceiving and help to support a successful pregnancy. Nutrition and optimal fertility go hand-in-hand

Bottom Line for Fertility Health: Break bad habits and eat better.

  • Stop smoking because women who inhale nicotine are more likely to be infertile.
  • Recent research suggest vaping harms the lungs and heart. The artificial flavors have a toxic effect on cells.
  • Eliminate unhealthy foods in your diet by avoiding processed and fast foods.
  • If you are overweight – BMI of 25+ – losing weight will help to increase your fertility.
  • Get plenty of sleep to avoid irregular menstrual cycles. A lack of sleep leads to weight gain. Weight gain leads to ovulation problems. You should get at least 8 hours of sleep to increase your fertility.

Improving Your Fertility Health

A diet and fertility study has examined the impact of diet on fertility. Positive dietary effects on fertility for women have been linked to the intake of:

  • Folic acid
  • Vitamin B12
  • Omega 3 fatty acids
  • Healthy diets – the DASH

Fertility Diet Tips

  • Low-sodium canned or frozen veggies
  • Herbs and spices instead of salt
  • Lemon juice, citrus zest, or hot chilies for extra flavor and no sodium
  • Canned fruits packed in juice or water – not syrup
  • Non-fat, plain Greek yogurt instead of sour cream
  • Healthy vegetable oils instead of butter
  • Half wheat and half white flour
  • Puree sweet potatoes, carrots, or cauliflower and keep in freezer for easy use in soups and casseroles
  • Instead of alcohol – infuse cranberries, pomegranate arils, or orange slices into sparkling water
  • Plant-based foods
  • Protein-rich foods
  • Healthy fats
  • A bit of full-fat dairy products

Nutrition and Fertility

Nutrition plays an essential role in improving the chances of conception and supporting a healthy pregnancy. Diet matters greatly before pregnancy and solidifies healthy eating habits during pregnancy. Make sure you take your vitamin supplements containing folic acid.

A Healthy Body Mass Index (BMI)

A healthy body weight and diet is essential to increasing your chances of becoming pregnant. Strive to achieve and maintain a healthy body mass index (BMI) to keep your reproductive cycle in balance. A BMI of 19 to 24 indicates a healthy weight. Anything above 24 or below 19 may be hindering your chances of ovulation and conception.

Plan of Action to Get Pregnant

Make an appointment with a fertility specialist for a thorough reproductive examination and preliminary assessment of your reproductive health. Why does this matter? Up to 34 percent of infertility cases are due to structural issues with a woman’s reproductive system. Both female and male patients must undergo a complete fertility assessment to evaluate their reproductive health.

The good news! Flagging any potential medical cause of infertility is the quick and cost-effectively help you get pregnant over the summer. Once the problem is identified, great strides toward a pregnancy can be made through a customized treatment plan.

Genetic testing helps to reduce the number of cycles required to achieve a healthy pregnancy.

PGT-A Increases IVF Pregnancy Chance by up to 30%

Recent research statistics show that a PGT-A biopsy and screening dramatically increases a woman’s chance of conception through IVF – by up to 30 percent. Cells are extracted from a blastocyst embryo and evaluated. Aneuploidy embryos are detected.

Poor quality embryos result in:

  • Low chance of pregnancy
  • High chance of miscarriage
  • High risk for birth defect

Candidates for PGT-A in Conjunction with IVF

  • Women over 35 using their own eggs
  • Women having a history of 2 or more miscarriages
