August is National Breastfeeding Month
World Breastfeeding Week (August 1 – 7) and National Breastfeeding Month are launched on August 1st. During this month, the people supporting this movement celebrate the benefits of breastfeeding. Most importantly, women and men give support to those who breastfeed anytime – anywhere.

There is clear evidence that breastfeeding saves lives by protecting babies from life-threatening infections and illnesses. Over 820,000 lives could be saved if all babies were breastfed during the first 6 months after birth.
