According to Dr. John Zhang – as quoted in a professional press release – Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) cycles have an almost ZERO risk rate for an ectopic pregnancy. This is because a woman’s estrogen levels are much lower during a FET procedure than in a fresh IVF cycle. A FET reduces the risk of an ectopic pregnancy because less medication and stimulation are required than in a fresh cycle.
An ectopic pregnancy occurs when a fertilized egg implants outside the uterine cavity – typically within the Fallopian tubes. An ectopic pregnancy can also occur when a fertilized egg implants in the cervix or outside of the uterus. A woman’s life can be threatened by an ectopic pregnancy because internal bleeding occurs as the embryo thrives – leading to hemorrhaging.
Women who are at risk for an ectopic pregnancy during IVF can avoid complications by foregoing a fresh embryo transfer and electing to undergo future FET procedures when their estrogen level is reduced. Pregnancy success rates for a FET are higher than a fresh IVF transfer because a woman has the opportunity to wait until her uterine lining returns to an ideal state for embryo implantation.
Through FET, couples can repeatedly try to get pregnant using their cryopreserved embryos. If the FET cycle is successful, couples can undergo another procedure and plan their family through gender selection
Through world class laboratory technology, our pregnancy success rates through FET has increased substantially in recent years. That’s not all. Only high quality embryos are cryopreserve to be later transferred in future FET procedures. This success has made FETs an increasingly popular option to consider before considering a subsequent fresh IVF cycle. Bottom Line: With FET, couples can increase their chance of pregnancy per fresh egg retrieval and ultimately save money by avoiding the expense of another fresh IVF cycle.
To begin the FET procedure, hormone medication is administered to suppress the woman’s pituitary gland and reduce the chances of unexpected ovulation. Estrogen acts to thicken and mature the uterine lining – like the natural estrogen produced by a developing egg follicle during a normal menstrual cycle.
During estrogen administration, monitoring of the uterine lining is required.
Double Benefit of FET: Monitoring for timing of transfer during a FET cycle is more flexible than in a fresh IVF cycle. The FET procedure is much less stressful on patients because the transfer date can be adjusted.
Progesterone is a medication administered in preparation for the FET to make the uterine lining receptive to the implantation of the embryo.
Healthy pregnancies have been achieved after an embryo has been frozen for up to 10 years. Pregnancy success through FETs is determined by the quality of the frozen embryo.
Dr. John Zhang promotes the practice of Single Embryo Transfer (SET) to reduce health risks associated with multiple pregnancies and births. Cryopreservation of surplus embryos for future FET procedures is encouraged by the fertility specialists at New Hope Fertility Center – in lieu of repeated, expensive fresh IVF cycles.
The flash-freezing technique of vitrification makes it possible to ready fresh embryos rapidly for cryopreservation. Using the vitrification method, embryos freeze quickly and damaging ice crystals do not form between cells. We are leaders in embryo cryopreservation. Dr. Zhang was one of the first doctors in the United States to implement the vitrification method of embryo freezing.

Dr. Zaher Merhi, Director of IVF Technology Research and Development, specializes in the revolutionary Needle-Free IVF protocol. New Hope Fertility Center is the first program in the world to offer Needle-Free IVF.
Our Needle-Free IVF protocol stimulates a woman’s ovaries into producing multiple egg follicles through the use of oral fertility medications. This revolutionary holistic IVF protocol eliminates the fear, pain, and anxiety many patients experience with injections and blood draws. Needle-Free IVF also lowers the patient’s cost of fertility medications.
Through Needle-Free IVF, patients are able to administer hormone stimulation in a less-invasive manner. That’s not all. Hormone levels are measured through urine and saliva tests during a Needle-Free IVF cycle.
Depending on the woman’s medical needs, an oral fertility medication – typically Clomid and/or Letrozole– are prescribed to gently stimulate her ovaries into producing multiple eggs. Synarel is administered nasally for 3 days at the beginning of the cycle and then again 36 hours prior to surgical egg retrieval to trigger ovulation.
Our Needle-Free IVF protocol has resulted in comparable egg collection results as that of the Conventional IVF protocol. We are – on average – able to retrieve at least 10 eggs from patients who have undergone our Needle-Free IVF protocol. These results are reassuringly comparable with other IVF protocols in terms of number of eggs collected and pregnancy success rates.

In an interview with Fox5NYC News, Dr. John Zhang reported that couples struggling to have a baby consistently ask him two important questions:
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) estimates that 15 percent of couples in America – 1 in 8 – struggle with infertility. Most couples experience isolation and depression during their infertility treatment. With 12 percent of women in the U.S. receiving some form of infertility treatment and 10 percent of cases being due to male infertility, the fertility experts at New Hope Fertility Center offer Professional In-House Fertility Counseling with Allison Rosen Ph.D.
Dr. Zhang’s recommendation as to when a couple should make an appointment with him:
According to Dr. Zhang, the inability to have a baby is isolating for most couples. However, today’s couples are discussing their infertility more and more openly. They are also seeking out counseling while undergoing treatment.
With 12 percent of women in the U.S. receiving some form of infertility treatment during their lifetime, the fertility experts at New Hope Fertility Center offer Professional In-House Fertility Counseling with Allison Rosen Ph.D.
As an experience clinical psychologist specializing in infertility, Dr. Allison Rosen has helped hundreds of couples cope during their struggle to have a baby.
Through individual, couple, and group counseling, the Doctor addresses the many challenges of dealing with infertility including:
Today’s Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) helps to increase the healthy birth rates of babies through genetic testing. This is because only the healthiest embryos are transferred for implantation during a fresh IVF cycle and/or Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET). Genetic testing helps to reduce the number of cycles required to achieve a healthy pregnancy.
We are dedicated to promoting how patients can reduce their risks of having a miscarriage through genetic testing in conjunction with In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).
PGS is the testing of an embryo’s overall chromosomal normalcy prior to being transferred to the patient’s uterus in conjunction with IVF. PGS detects chromosomal deficiencies – aneuploidy – an extra or missing chromosome in an embryo.
PGS dramatically increases a woman’s chance of conception. Only the healthiest embryo(s) are transferred. Embryo biopsy and screening can increase a patient’s chance of a successful pregnancy by up to 30 percent.
Because advanced maternal age (over 35) adversely affects the quality of a woman’s eggs – oocytes – resulting in chromosomal abnormalities, New Hope Fertility NYC recommends PGS in conjunction with IVF to patients over the age of 35.
By extracting a cell from an embryo and analyzing it, poor quality embryos are detected. Biopsy of this cell will not damage the embryo.
Low quality embryos result in:
NGS is a new method of PGS. NGS is the latest genetic screening test for primary candidates undergoing IVF. NGS is used for comprehensive chromosome testing of embryos created through IVF. NGS is on the horizon to replacing PGS because of the procedure’s lower cost and reduced errors.
NGS allows embryologists to screen for defects on the chromosomal level with higher accuracy and more detail than ever before. PGS results are comprehensive and a higher resolution than any other genetic testing method because it detects more translocations.
NGS is also helpful for those couples wanting to plan their family through gender selection.

Using large amounts of fertility medications to produce multiple egg follicles during a single IVF cycle does not increase your chances of getting pregnant. Lowering patient costs and health risks, our revolutionary Mini-Free IVF™ is a very successful treatment for women suffering from infertility – even if they have failed Conventional IVF.
In Very Well Family (8/20/18) – Dr. John Zhang explains that producing too many eggs with large doses of fertility drugs can backfire and cause medical problems such as PCOS. Failing a Conventional IVF doesn’t mean that Mini-IVF™ won’t work.
Failing an IVF cycle happens for a number of reasons.
Some women who fail a Conventional IVF cycle will have better luck with lower or no egg stimulation protocols because these can produce higher quality eggs. It is a case by case situation and by trying more holistic treatments, pregnancy success has been achieved.
Our Mini-IVF™ protocol has changed the entire landscape of IVF treatment. It is a simple, convenient, and patient-friendly IVF protocol. A woman’s body no longer needs to be forced into overproducing eggs to achieve a successful pregnancy.
If you are suffering from infertility due to a history of endometriosis, our Mini-IVF™ can increase your chances of pregnancy without the need for large dosages of costly fertility medications used to produce an excessive number of eggs. The goal with a Mini-IVF™ protocol is to produce between 3 and 5 quality eggs per fresh cycle. The best part: Pregnancy success rates for Mini-IVF™ are comparable to Conventional IVF.
Because lower dosages of fertility medications are prescribed to only produce 3 to 5 high quality eggs, the patient’s cost per Mini-IVF™ cycle is reduced. With a Mini-IVF™ protocol, the patient’s physical discomfort is lessened because her body is not forced into producing the 10 to 15 eggs reached in a Conventional IVF cycle.
Mini-IVF™ is the best treatment protocol for those women who have been:
Mini-IVF™ has also become the preferred treatment protocol for:

If you’re a passenger on the fertility train, you know the disappointment of several failed IVF cycles. You get excited – and you are ready for that positive pregnancy test – but it didn’t work. Today: There are now many last chance treatment options for older women who think they were on a dead-end IVF path.
Today’s older women – between 38 and 42 – have more fertility treatment options than ever before. Women who are past their reproductive prime used to be automatically placed on the fast-track to IVF. This was typically the most effective treatment option for older women to conceive quickly and cost-effectively. Look: Time is of the essence. Before undergoing IVF, older women can now consider Ovarian Rejuvenation Therapy. Bottom Line: As a first line measure, both Ovarian Rejuvenation Therapy and IVF can avoid repeated failed infertility treatment cycles.
A recent study has favored going straight to IVF treatment.
IVF success rates vary in the context of patient and treatment characteristics. Researchers have found that older women were more than twice as likely to become pregnant through IVF within the first two cycles of treatment. The best part? They were twice as likely to have a healthy baby from their IVF pregnancy.

You can preserve your future fertility through ovarian tissue freezing. Why is this good news? The National Institutes of Health reported that [h]uman ovarian tissue transplantation has resulted in the birth of over 70 children worldwide. Look: Preserving female fertility through ovarian tissue freezing is trending today because it is a proven safe and successful procedure.
A woman only releases one egg per month during her natural cycle. It only takes one good quality egg to have a healthy baby.
There are many females who should consider ovarian tissue freezing.
The celebrated fertility specialists at New Hope Fertility Center provide all-encompassing cryopreservation techniques for protecting the fertility of both women and men.
Ovarian tissue freezing is accomplished through an outpatient surgical procedure by removing a thin piece of the outer membrane of one of the woman’s ovary – the preserved ovary. The outer membrane of an ovary is where a woman’s eggs are located. This ovarian tissue is cryopreserved for later transplant to the woman’s other ovary – the non-preserved ovary.
According to a 2015 study published in the journal of Human Reproduction, 10 out of 32 women facing chemotherapy were able to conceive naturally after undergoing ovarian tissue freezing before cancer treatment.
At some determined time in her future, a woman’s fertility can be readily restored and she can naturally have a baby.
To help along the natural conception of a baby for women who have undergone an ovarian tissue transplant, New Hope Fertility Center offers:
By monitoring your ovarian cycle through ultrasound and blood tests, the fertility care team at New Hope Fertility Center will determine your optimal time for intercourse – your ovulation window. To increase your chances of conception, determining your ovulation window gives you the 2 to 3 day period every month that is the optimal time for you and your partner to have sexual intercourse.
Your basal body temperature will rise in the two days following ovulation. This temp rise can last for one to three days post-ovulation. The longer your basal body temperature stays high, the better chance you have of conceiving with regular sexual intercourse during your ovulation window.
A variation of timed intercourse is Medicated Timed Intercourse. Here’s the deal: Typically, a woman only produces one healthy egg per monthly cycle. With Medicated Timed Intercourse, you will be prescribed oral fertility medications – Clomid or Femara – to stimulate your ovaries into producing multiple eggs during one monthly cycle. Because you are producing multiple eggs, your chances of conception increase during your ovulation window during a timed intercourse cycle. But there’s a catch: A multiple pregnancy may be conceived through Medicate Time Intercourse.
Timed intercourse is often used in conjunction with Intrauterine Insemination (IUI). IUI is the generally the same treatment protocol followed through medicated timed intercourse. After an injectable ovulation trigger medication – hCG – has been self-administered, a concentrated amount of sperm is inserted into the woman’s uterus via her cervix in a simple office procedure similar to a Pap smear.
Ovarian tissue freezing is a state-of-the-art fertility preservation technique. It is important to work with a fertility care doctor having the experience required to design a customized fertility preservation treatment plan meeting your personal needs. The EmbryoScope allows the growth and development of embryos in vitro to be monitored without disturbing the culturing process. Look: Quality embryo development is crucial to a successful IVF pregnancy. The EmbryoScope is an innovative, cutting edge, time-lapsed photography and software solution.
The EmbryoScope is an innovative technology designed to improve IVF outcomes.
From a cell – to a newborn baby – embryology is the branch of biology and medicine focused on the study of an embryo from the point of fertilization through development to the fetus stage. The practice of embryology is key to pregnancy success through IVF technology.
Working with fertility doctors to successfully treat every patient’s underlying cause of infertility, the clinical embryologists at New Hope Fertility Center are responsible for:
Our acclaimed team of embryologists give careful attention to nurturing quality embryos as they develop in vitro. Only quality embryos are transferred to the patient’s uterus.
Excess, quality embryos produced during a fresh IVF cycle are cryopreserved for future transfers via Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET). Only the highest quality embryos are cryopreserved for the best chances of a future FET pregnancy success.
Our cutting edge laboratory technology provides embryos culturing in vitro with an optimum environment for healthy development prior to fresh transfer and/or cryopreservation for future FETs.
Embryologists at New Hope Fertility Center choose only the healthiest sperm to fertilize an egg in vitro. HRSS technology provides embryologists with the ability to view sperm at 6000 x magnification using Differential Interference Contrast (DIC) microscopy. Through HRSS, an embryologist can view the physical details of each sperm – its shape, size, and motility – looking for good morphological appearance. Healthy sperm is essential to the development of a quality embryo in vitro. Normal chromosomes and less fragmentation in DNA are key factors that play a significant role in the quality of an embryo.
ICSI is an IVF laboratory ancillary procedure designed to help resolve male-factor infertility due to low sperm count or poor sperm quality. ICSI is the micromanipulation of fertilizing an egg by injecting a single sperm directly into the cytoplasm of a mature egg using a pipette (glass needle).
A computer-assisted laser procedure – known as Assisted Hatching – helps the mass of cells inside an embryo escape during transfer for better uterine lining implantation success. A tiny opening is made in the Zona Pellucida through a computer-assisted laser after the embryo has cultured for up to five days.
Through IVF/M – in vitro fertilization with maturation – immature eggs are retrieved for maturation in vitro and fertilization using ICSI.
We are proud to be one of a select number of fertility centers in the world having embraced EmbryoScope technology.
