The natural maternal aging process has a dramatic negative effect on the quality of a woman’s eggs. The Good News: Thanks to the 20 plus years of research and clinical experience in successful egg freezing by Dr. John Zhang, women no longer have to be cornered into motherhood by their biological clocks. A woman has the option of freezing her eggs to preserve her future fertility into her advanced reproductive years (mid- to late -30s to early 40s + Beyond).
The younger your eggs are when trying to conceive, the better chance you will have of getting pregnant. If you know that one day you would like to become a mother, but feel that now is just not the time, I recommend freezing your eggs. – Dr. John Zhang as quoted in Parenting.
In 1986, the first birth resulting from a frozen egg was achieved. Since then, amazing strides have been achieved in the field of egg freezing Assisted Reproduction Technology (ART). Today’s ART for egg freezing is in high demand by women who don’t want to be faced with maternal age-related fertility decline. There has been an increased demand for Social Egg Freezing (SEF) – a procedure that allows women to preserve their fertility past their prime reproductive years.
Dr. Zhang thought Dr. Kawayama’s use of the National Zoo’s research and egg freezing ART for humans was too good to be true – he was hesitant to believe it was possible.
What’s the good news? Dr. Zhang has successfully achieve healthy pregnancies and births of babies using cutting-edge egg freezing ART for over 20 years. Read an amazing story in Harper’s Bazaar that features how Dr. Zhang’s Division of Fertility Preservation has played a major role in informing women of their future family planning options.
Based on amazing high pregnancy success rates using a woman’s frozen egg, Dr. Zhang believes that the process for freezing your eggs will be as easy as going to the gym! Stay tuned for more updates and personal egg freezing success stories from our happy patients.

Non-Invasive Chromosomal Screening (NICS) is a cutting-edge genetic testing methodology used to evaluate the chromosomal status of an embryo culturing in vitro during the Blastocyst stage (5 to 6 days). The implementation of NICS genetic testing methodology marks a huge and truly a momentous achievement by Dr. John Zhang. NICS increases IVF and Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) pregnancy success rates by up to 30 percent.
Cutting-edge NICS technology in conjunction with IVF detects most chromosomal abnormalities in embryos culturing in vitro without the need to remove cells by needle stick. NICS increases IVF and FET pregnancy success rates by up to 30%.
NICS is an in vitro evaluation of the efficacy of a single-embryo transfer at the blastocyst stage (5 to 6 days development in vitro). NICS is the sequencing of free genomic DNA in the culture medium of individual blastocysts and obtaining chromosomal ploidy information.
When abnormal embryos detected using NICS, they are discarded. Only quality embryos are transferred to the mother’s uterus – or – frozen (cryopreserved) for future FETs.
State-of-the-art genetics technologies have proven to increase IVF pregnancy rates. Through the medical marvel of NICS in conjunction with IVF, genetic and chromosomal abnormalities can be detected in embryos.
As a woman advances in age, the chance for low quality embryos increases.
Low quality embryos result in:

Bottom Line: Dr. Zhang has the expertise to know when your fertility medication regimens must be adjusted for an optimum IVF cycle outcome.
Should your IVF fertility medication regimen be:
As reported by ABC News, the Mini-IVF™ is a newer and gentler IVF protocol. What’s the real story? As an alternative to Conventional IVF, the Mini-IVF™ has been successfully practiced for over a decade by Dr. John Zhang. As explained in an interview with ABC News, You only need one good-quality egg to achieve a live birth. With Mini-IVF™, you make very few eggs, but good quality eggs to achieve a pregnancy – Dr. John Zhang. The best part: This holistic IVF protocol is gentle on a woman’s body because patients follow a low-dose oral drug regimen during a fresh cycle – instead of the typical rigorous administration of daily hormone shots.
The fertility drug clomiphene citrate – brand named Clomid – is an oral medication used to stimulate a woman’s monthly egg production and increase her chances of pregnancy. Ovulation of multiple eggs is timed with the insemination of a concentrated amount of sperm into the uterus via a woman’s cervix – similar to a Pap smear.
A 2015 study published in the New England Journal of Medicine tested and compared two common fertility drugs stimulating multiple egg production – Clomid v. Femara. Clomid achieved a birth rate of 23 percent, while Femara (generic Letrozole – an aromatase inhibitor) only 18 percent. The study found that Letrozole offered no advantages over Clomid treatment and increased the chance of multiple pregnancy by up to four times. The researchers concluded that Clomid is the most effective medication for stimulating ovaries and increasing the chances of a healthy pregnancy for couples with unexplained infertility.
Your fertility doctor must have the education, training, and clinical experience to precisely determine how a fertility medication protocol must be administered for success. As a patient who is committed to investing your time and resources into getting pregnant, you must become well-informed about fertility medications. It can’t be emphasized enough. Every fertility drug is specifically designed for strategic administration during a woman’s IVF cycle. These medications are a very important component of the IVF cycle process and are determinative of pregnancy success.
It is important to work with a fertility doctor who has the experience to accurately prescribe and regulate fertility medications – regardless of the recommended treatment.

You can get pregnant in the comfort of your home with Dr. John Zhang’s new At-HOME IVF package to go. Self-administered oral fertility medications will stimulate your ovaries into producing multiple egg follicles. This is an individually designed IVF pick-up or deliverable package containing everything you need for an At-HOME IVF Cycle – including fertility medications.
At-HOME IVF is a patient-friendly protocol designed to eliminate the fear, pain, and anxiety experienced with injections and blood draws.
Patients are treated in a less-invasive manner.
Depending on the woman’s medical needs, an oral fertility medication – typically Clomid and/or Letrozole – is prescribed to gently stimulate her ovaries into producing multiple eggs. Synarel is administered nasally for 3 days at the beginning of the cycle and then again 36 hours prior to surgical egg retrieval to trigger ovulation.
Customized IVF care is the best. Remember: It only takes one good egg and one healthy sperm to make a baby. Our focus is to help you produce good quality eggs during a fresh IVF cycle – not a high quantity of eggs using large doses of injectable fertility medications.

My IVF journey began when I was 39. I had five IVF failures (5) at three different fertility clinics in NYC before I came to New Hope Fertility Center. At my former clinics I was given high doses of drugs and produced many egg follicles. However, shortly after fertilization most of the embryos would arrest and the ones transferred to my uterus would not implant. I was diagnosed as hopelessly infertile.
At 41 – discouraged and feeling hopeless – I came across New Hope and was intrigued by their mission of treating difficult patients. I met with Dr. Zhang and immediately felt comfortable and hopeful again. Dr. Zhang reviewed my records of previous IVF attempts and designed a different protocol for me. Unlike other clinics, New Hope has a customized regimen for each patient. They do not use a cookie-cutter approach.
Dr. Zhang and my fertility care team found the IVF regimen that worked best for me. I was given less drugs and then my embryos were frozen. At age 42, I had a successful frozen embryo transfer during my natural cycle. My husband and I now have a beautiful baby boy.
